Feb. 28 Non-Points Race #1 Report

Six (6) cars were on hand for the Non-Points Race #1 the first race of the 2015 Season. Some of our normal drivers were out of town for the Winter Nationals in Florida. Allen Johnson did not race but ran the computer all day.

The temperature was a little chilly but the flow of blood getting back to racing made up the difference.

First of all a big welcome to new driver Art Roper.

Due to some issues since upgrading the scoring system software it delayed the start of racing.
In preparation for the QSAC NCS#1 we ran a timed qualifying session. The upgraded software has a great feature which will list the fastest lap of each driver LIVE on one screen which is great. Need to check if that screen can be printed somehow as there is not a print command for that screen.

Only 5 drivers were able t0 qualify as James Adamson’s ¼ scale throttle servo gears stripped out along with the horn control wheel which would end his day.

The top 3 in Timed Qualifying were 1st Scott Harper (TNT) @ 6.396 seconds, 2nd Tim Smith (Lightning) @ 6.604 and 3rd Eddie Dunn (Lightning) @ 6.654 seconds.
----------------------------

Heat #1 Winner was Scott Harper (TNT) who led all 50 laps. 2nd was Tim Smith 2.931 seconds behind and 3rd was Eddie Dunn.

Fast Lap for the Heat was Scott Harper @ 6.401 seconds.
----------------------------

Heat #2 Winner was Tim Smith (Lightning), 2nd was Wayne Rogers (Lightning) .560 seconds back, and 3rd was Eddie Dunn (Lightning) 1.334 seconds behind finishing under yellow.

Fast Lap for Heat was Scott Harper @ 6.550 seconds.

Scott Harper 21-46
----------------------------

Tim Smith would lead the 1st 42 laps until Scott Harper would take the position from him after working his way up from 4th.

At the halfway point 1st was Scott Harper, 2nd Tim Smith, 3rd Eddie Dunn, 4th Wayne Rogers and 5th Art Roper who was getting some needed track time.

Art Roper would pull his car at lap 111 finishing 4th.

A late caution on lap 144 tighten the field back up with all 3 remaining drivers were on the same lap.

Tim Smith would make a rush up on Scott Harper but could not quite get up beside him and Scott Harper took the Main Win. 2nd was Tim Smith 0.506 seconds back, 3rd Eddie Dunn 1.475 seconds back, 4th Art Roper and 5th Wayne Rogers.

Fast Lap of the Main was by Scott Harper on lap 65 with a time of 6.445 seconds.

Next race (March 14) should have a better turnout as it is the first point race of the season and our out of town racers will be back.
